FAIRFAX, VA (October 21, 2005) - For the second time in two years, Edelman Financial Services LLC has been named by Washingtonian magazine as one of the ?Great Places to Work.? The citation appears in the magazine?s bi-annual list of the best workplaces in the Washington D.C. area.
"We're excited to be recognized for the second time as one of the top companies in the area," said Ric Edelman, founder and chairman of the firm. "Our people are the best and brightest, and our clients love them. We keep our clients happy by keeping our employees happy."
Edelman balances the serious business of financial planning and investment management with a regular dose of stress relief. The staff regularly celebrates off-the-wall holidays and takes part in excursions to the bowling alley, cornfield mazes, the circus, and more. This year, with the return of baseball to DC, Edelman purchased behind-the-plate season tickets for staff to enjoy. Whatever the event, it all stems from Edelman?s mantra, "We're not here to have fun, but we are to have fun while we're here!"
Washingtonian's list was compiled through questionnaires and interviews with more than 225 candidates. Top companies are chosen because of their interesting and challenging work, good pay and benefits, collegial staff, stability, flexibility, and employee development.
Among other benefits, Edelman Financial Services was acknowledged for giving its employees four-week paid sabbaticals every six years, half-day Fridays off in the summer, and paid time off for community and charity work. The firm, founded in 1987, has won more than 60 professional, business, community service and philanthropic awards. Bloomberg Wealth Manager has twice ranked the company as one of the largest independent financial planning and investment management firms in the nation* managing nearly $3 billion for more than 7,000 clients. Barron?s has twice (2004 and 2005) ranked Ric Edelman among America?s 100 top financial advisors, and in 2004, Ric was inducted into the Financial Advisor Hall of Fame. Virginia Business magazine recently named Ric as the #1 retail advisor in the state.
